Class takes place in the Center for Childbirth / LDR (Labor, Delivery, Recovery room) where you can rehearse skills you learned in your childbirth preparation class and learn more about the use of positioning, massage and breathing techniques. This class will help you:
- Add additional skill for managing the pain of labor
- Practice using a birthing bed for labor and pushing
- Refresh your skills from a previous birth
Alternative therapies such as aromatherapy, water therapy, massage and acupressure will also be reviewed so that you and your support person are well-equipped with a variety of tools for labor. Labor Lab should be taken with your labor support person after your childbirth preparation course or as a refresher course.
The class fee is $30 per couple.
The class involves activities requiring two people. If your partner or primary support person is unable to attend, we strongly encourage you to bring an alternate support person to assist with this role. This class will begin in the Center for Childbirth conference room located on the third floor of the hospital. The practice session will then move to a labor room whenever possible. However, due to the unpredictability of the number of patients in labor, it may be necessary to use an alternative space.

If you cancel your registration prior to two weeks before the start of class, we will provide a refund, less a $10 processing fee. Refunds cannot be given after that time. We are unable to transfer registration fees to another class should you miss your scheduled class. Occasionally, due to low enrollment, we must cancel a class. In those instances, we are happy to provide a full refund or assist you in selecting another class.
Inclement Weather Policy
In case of inclement weather, please call the main hospital phone number at 303-689-4000 two hours before class start time for cancellation information. If the class is cancelled, you will be contacted the next business day to reschedule.
