Breastfeeding

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all babies exclusively breastfeed for 6 months and continue for at least one year. We are a Baby Friendly hospital. The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative is an international program of the World Health Organization and UNICEF that supports breastfeeding for all babies.

Our lactation consultants are on staff to assist breastfeeding mothers during their hospital stay.

We offer these additional services for breastfeeding families:

  • Outpatient consultations
  • Breastfeeding “Help Line” at 303-689-4766
  • Breastfeeding support group
  • Breast pump rental
  • Nursing Nook, a specialty shop for breastfeeding mothers

Mother's Milk Bank

Good Samaritan Medical Center is now a donation site for Mother’s Milk Bank, which provides breast milk to families in need. We also donate 12 ounces of free breast milk to families who need it and deliver at Good Samaritan.

For questions about breastfeeding and breastfeeding services contact our Lactation Specialists at 303-689-4700.
